In an act of true selflessness and bravery, Stephen Lenhart, a bricklayer in Local 23’s Northeast Chapter in Youngstown, performed CPR on Larry Sams, who had a heart attack on the job.
Sams, a laborer from Local 809, was working with Lenhart at the Crestview PK-12 school in Columbiana, Ohio when he went into cardiac arrest. Lenhart moved quickly to perform CPR on Sams, keeping him alive until paramedics arrived.
Thanks to Lenhart’s quick thinking and action, Sams is now in recovery.
But this isn’t the first time that Lenhart has performed CPR while on the job and saved a life. In his spare time, Lenhart works at a local craft beer brewery in Columbiana and performed CPR on a woman there some time ago, saving her life as well!
Getting CPR certified is easy and it could be the difference between someone living or dying. If you are interested in getting CPR certified, the American Red Cross has fantastic resources, including a tool to search for CPR classes near you. Check it out here.
